When health and beauty companies were permitted to reopen on 4 July, a host of extra safety measures were put in place to help prevent the spread of Covid-19. Now, all close contact companies are required to keep a short-term record of clients for 21 days and need to operate an appointment-only system.
As social distancing is not possible, customers and hairdressers need to both wear face masks or a visor and in the waiting area, magazines and newspapers are no longer permitted.
The government has announced that, as part of its Covid winter strategy, the “personal care” sector can reopen. This means that beauty, nail and hair beauty salons throughout England will have the ability to open their doors on 2nd December. The government site states that services allowed to resume from this date consist of hairstylists and barbers, beauty salons, tattoo parlours, nail beauty salons, medical spas and appeal services, massage parlours and tanning beauty parlours.
